Do you need to restate your essential question? Is it the same as semester one?
How did your findings influence your thinking about the bigger challenge? What do you know now? What do you need find out and how will you discover it? What data will you collect to inform you? How is your research innovative? New and scale-able Currently I'm working on the same research question. I know now that each student has different preferences in regards to how they interact with reflection. I still need to know whether calming strategies have a positive effect on test scores on in the classroom at all since students expressed that they mostly used calming strategies with peers or siblings. I know that they at least use them. Going forward each student will be reflecting in the manner they preferred (journal or conversation). I am going to compare the test scores of the students from the journal vs. conversation groups. Since CAASPP test data will not yet be available I will be using District Benchmark Assessment data to compare growth between the two groups. This research is innovative in dealing with calming testing strategies. Adverse Childhood Experience research as well as Grit research are still fairly new. Single classroom research has not been a theme in my research. Previous research also included more members of the family.

Providing students with the opportunity to be reflective is such a powerful way to help them process emotion and instill in them healthy practices that will continue to improve their quality of life. Its awesome that you are able to continue with the same research, only having to refine reflection practices.

Catie, I feel that it is so valuable to be able to revisit the same research topic again and reflect as we had such a short amount of time to really delve in and really have an adequate amount of time to go deep into our study. I am glad you are taking the time to take a closer look and go deeper into your passionate interest and find out more. I feel that we could all use that scope to magnify our interest with a more narrow focus.

I really like your area of study for your research project! Calming testing strategies are so powerful to teach students at a young age. I also have seen students struggle with anxiety around tests, especially big ones like the CAASPP or District Assessments, and I think it is awesome that you are teaching students effective strategies to overcome their anxiety in order to be successful. I look forward to following your research!

Since I still feel like I am relatively new to teaching, I am always learning about new teaching strategies to help my students. I am definitely intrigued by this calming testing strategies. So much anxiety centered around learning! What happened to the aww and wonder of learning we had as children!
