This is going to be an important semester for collaboration. Teaching is one of the few careers that isn't cut throat and competitive (at least not in my experience). We are all hopefully here to support one another. I'm hoping that we will have in-class time to break out into small groups to voice frustrations, mourn losses of a failed attempt, and celebrate small victories together. July 17 isn't that far away. While it's exciting to know that we're all about to cross the finish line together. It is also stressful knowing that the culmination of all our hard work is about to be put on display.
Since we're such a close cohort I think it's really important that we set aside time for one another to meet outside of class. The 2 hours in class doesn't give enough time to dive deep and give meaningful feedback. Many of us live in Vallejo. I'm hopeful that we'll be able to meet somewhere or on Zoom. Summer session is especially exciting because we will not have to go to work. So, we can meet classmates over lunch or coffee like normal people.

Yes! Let’s get together and work with one another! We ARE a close cohort and this will help us as we support each other and help each other grow. I am also excited that school will be out soon, allowing us to reach out more, and focus more! I think it’s the perfect timing since we are putting everything together, too. Scott, please join us!!!

Hi Catie, I agree that July 17 will be here before we know it! I like the idea of meeting with one another outside of class as well, whether that is in Zoom or in person. When we have previously done that with group projects it has been so helpful. It is beneficial to have that additional time to bounce ideas off of one another, gain new insights, and discuss the best ways to apply the new tools we are learning about. I'm in!

I love everything about this! It would be so nice to voice our frustrations in person and get to see each other, in the real world, again. Teaching, despite the many chances for collaboration, can sometimes feel like an isolated event. We get so comfortable in our classrooms that we forget the valuable resources we have in other teachers. I'm glad that we have has so many opportunities to collaborate built into the program so far.

I am sooo looking forward to not having come from a full day of classes and a commute to get to class! I think it will be great for us as a cohort to get together and work on stuff.
